Inhabiting your body 3 Years, 9 Months ago
This thread discusses the Content article: Inhabiting your body

I often do not feel comfortable in my body. I used to be thin and now am heavier, yet, to some not really fat. I see the beginning of aging appearing. I would like to not be so vain about my body and just accept it as just a body. I do know I am more than a body. I do know I am omnipotent outside this body and I am aware of the limitations this body has. Gradually I am letting go of body image and focusing more on the inner self. I DO love my body and am grateful every day that at 56 my body is in such great condition.

Thanks

We're taught from childhood to fight our natural tendencies to honor our bodies, and as a result they become something foreign to us. This seems to become especially noticeable as we age and our bodies are no longer what they used to be. Socially we glorify youth and all that seems to go along with it, and forget to honor age and what used to be viewed as the attendant wisdom that comes from age. We resist what happens naturally within us, and that resistance creates pain and fear.

By learning to view our bodies as 1) part of a learning and growth choice in each lifetime, and 2) a real extension of the inner core of ourselves, or our souls, we can learn to better accept the changes that do occur naturally as a part of our overall evolution within each lifetime. Think of your body evolving, then, much as you do on a soul level, and you may be able to accept it more fully.

But frankly, I struggle with this as much as anyone. I think one of the easiest ways to learn to accept the body is simply to treat it with love, however that manifests for you.
