Welcome!

I am one of the lucky people — I really love my work. Every time I connect with people through  Polaris, I'm awestruck by the absolute breathtaking beauty and perfection of everyone and everything.  It's ... well ... awesome.

It's like seeing into people's souls, seeing their true selves, and through that perfection I feel like I get to add my little piece too.  It's such a gift to me, seeing who you truly are.

I always felt a part of the unseen world all around us, even as a child. I was the kid tying a stone to a string and making a homemade pendulum, or gazing into mirrors trying to see the infinite worlds inside.  So when my channeling gifts began to develop, it wasn't a big surprise.  It felt like I was really standing on my path, really home. And that's the gift I'd like to bring to you, the gift of truly knowing yourself so that your path can be as joyful as possible.

I'm a Reiki Master and my energy healing through Polaris also incorporates elements of shamanism, which I've also studied. I'm interested in practically everything so I've studied alternative modalities including herbalism, homeopathy, and nutrition. The body is amazing but we do need to take good care of it!  I meditate and speak to my guides daily — I love the sense of inner quiet I feel when I go deep inside that space of limitlessness. I love the forest and the beach and I feel incredibly fortunate to have been guided to be living near both. Every day I walk to one or the other (or both!).

I'm also a writer for a number of websites; I write about environmental consciousness, social activism, and alternative parenting.  Creativity and expression are integral parts of who I am, which reflects in my spiritual work as well.

As the voice of Polaris I bring all of myself, which includes warmth, integrity, and compassion.

Matthew Spears

I believe that every human experience can be expressed outwardly in some fashion — it’s my lifelong aim to try most of them at least once.

Besides expressions in all its forms, my main connection in this life is to elements of nature, especially the energy in trees.  And cats.  Cats adore me. Or is it the other way around? Music is a big part of my life too, and it's an unusual day if I haven't sung to Karen at least once.

I'm on a lifelong spiritual quest that is flowering in the expression of the teachings of Polaris. I've been a student of a number of spiritual paths and teachings, including those of Buddhism, Hinduism, Sufism, Ramana Maharishi, Gurdjieff, and Krishnamurthi, to name a few.  The many months I spent in India, traveling and absorbing the energy and way of life in monasteries and ashrams, had a huge impact on my life. 

I have a theater background with experience in acting and clowning.  Such active and outward expression of inner emotion has brought awareness of balance to my life on many levels.

I bring a sense of positive skepticism to the work with Polaris, which brings to it a different sort of balance.  By applying this energy I can experiment, investigate, and validate. I invite you to do the same.

Neither one of us were really quite prepared for the feeling of deep recognition we both felt when meeting in physical reality for the first time. It was like our very cells were waving hello to one another, greeting old friends.

It's been pretty much like that ever since.

Polaris told us that we had known one another for twenty years before we finally met in physical reality at a spiritual retreat.  There was twenty years' history of providing mutual energetic support and guidance to one another. Not a bad way to start a relationship.

We make our home in beautiful Vancouver, B.C., Canada and Bellingham WA, two of the most beautiful places on the planet.

The Story

You're wondering why there are two of us. It's an understandable question.

1. We like each other.

2. Even though it's Karen who has been the professional channel for ten years, Matthew's now involved too. It has something to do with  [insert technical spiritual term here] holding the energy. Polaris is REALLY powerful, and we think Matthew keeps Karen from floating off into space.

3. Karen doesn't really float off (but sort of).

4. All sessions are with Karen, and it's Karen's (prettier) face and voice that you'll see here on the site.  But because of the nature of time-space, it's their partnership that brings Polaris to life.

Together with Polaris, we bring you messages of empowerment and encouragement that will transform your life. It certainly has transformed ours. Through our work with Polaris, we've found incredible warmth, acceptance, humor, and an unending source of wisdom. And we want to share that transformation with you.
