The Story of the Cloud

Polaris is a wonderful storyteller!  They frequently tell heartwarming allegories during personal or group sessions that touch the soul and the imagination.

Following is a beautiful tale about the life of a cloud.

There once was a cloud. This cloud had the awareness of how clouds form and how clouds dissipate (as all clouds do). Clouds, you see, have a consciousness, an awareness of all the other clouds, and of what it is that creates clouds, and of what allows them to fall away.

If you can anthropomorphize this cloud ever so slightly, imagine that this cloud is wafting through the sky and gazing down to the Earth below, looking at the landforms of the Earth, and seeing shapes and colors.  Understand that a cloud's consciousness tends to be limited to energetic impressions, but this cloud could see shapes as well.  Cloud-consciousness is well aware of all the other consciousnesses of everything that is present on Earth!

This cloud was simply drifting along in the sky, watching the world unfold below it and marveling at the beauty of all the different forms as they moved past this cloud's perception.  It could also see other clouds in the sky—those at the same atmospheric level, some above, and some below.  You can imagine the cloud's perception as of an airplane in flight!

The cloud was thinking about the warmth of the sun above it and the coolness of what it contained.

For some time, the cloud was simply drifting along (as that is the only thing clouds can really do), admiring the landscape below it, and thinking about what was coming, wondering what was ahead.  It could see that there was another group of clouds just ahead and knew that at some point they would likely merge.  And the cloud was wondering what that was going to feel like, whether it was going to lose its individuality, whether it would still admire the unfolding landscape in quite the same way.  Would it even be able to notice the forms, shapes, and colors that it saw anymore?

The cloud began to be a little worried about this.  And because of that worry, the density of this cloud changed somewhat: the cloud began to fall.

It was still drifting along, but now at a lower level.  It looked up and saw the other group of clouds that it was about to meet pass by overhead.

Boy, was it relieved.  Phew!   It did not have to worry anymore about what it was going to feel like to reintegrate with all these other clouds and lose its sense of individuality.

It began to feel a little proud:  maybe it was more in control of its existence than it had supposed!  In fact, maybe it could change what it saw!  It was enjoying the forms in the landscape below, but now it wanted see something else.  It wanted to see mountains instead of prairies and fields.

In fact, it wanted to be the only cloud in the sky, because it enjoyed the brightness and the blueness.

So the cloud began to exert all its energy and effort into creating that, because this cloud knew it was powerful.  After all, it had changed its density in order to drop!   And so, one by one, it noticed that the other clouds in the sky were no longer as present as they had been.  In fact, the landscape below it was indeed changing.  There were indeed mountains below this cloud, as there had not been before.

The cloud got a little prouder.

1043067_sun_ray"I'm really in control of things now", the cloud was saying.  "I can do anything.  I make the weather.  In fact, I think I'll make it rain down there and see what happens."

So again the cloud tried with all its might to create enough density within it to create rain.  It did not realize that in so doing, it was also changing its own density and dropping down further.   But it was raining, and the cloud continued to pour all its energy into creating that rain.

Pretty soon the cloud noticed that something was amiss, that something had changed dreadfully.  It was no longer wafting about in the blue sky, but instead it was making firm contact with the Earth.  What was this? This was not what it thought was going to happen at all.

The cloud looked up, and over in the distance the sky was blue and not dark as it was where the cloud was.  There were puffs of white, simply  wafting about, eventually coming closer to where the cloud was now.  These puffs were fog on the ground over the mountains.

And the cloud realized that it did not have the power to move up into the sky to where it had once been.  And the cloud felt itself seep into the ground and eventually become rivers, a few trees, and animals.
